The origin of the name Vates Corp comes from the English-Latin noun vatès, a term for a 'prophet' or 'fortune teller'. Research and analysis are the backbone of our business and our Intelligence-Led approach to operations.
Vates is a U.S. Veteran-Owned Small Business with local affiliates and offices in Kenya and Somalia, with business and security licensing to enable our operations throughout the Horn, East, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Our founders have been living in the region and working on the ground in Somalia and throughout Sub-Saharan Africa since 2008, and together with our local partners, we have unparalleled experience mitigating risk in support of our customers' operations. Unlike much of our competition, we have existing, long-standing links into international and regional governments, security agencies, and local administrations, with active field networks throughout Sub-Saharan Africa – including areas under violent extremist organisation (VEO) influence and control.
Our team comprises a diversity of experience and backgrounds in Law, Special Operations Forces, Intelligence, and business risk management. We have a dedicated team with extensive operational expertise, cultural knowledge, and worldwide experience, complemented by a developed network of local sources that provide relevant, timely, and credible perspectives.
